The parish church of St Georges
The church of St Georges, included in one of the sides of the triangular space, is visible from all the castle entrances and so has been selected as the public muster and information point. To reinforce its identity as a signal, it is proposed to restore the timber bell-tower and spire seen on a number of engravings, as the support beam for this element is still in position inside the church. Restoration of this spire will enhance people’s perception of the castle from outside the enclosure.
