The ramparts and the parapet walk

The continuity of the parapet walk, which is currently interrupted in several places, can readily be restored. Fitting handrails and footbridges on the line and level of the present interruptions will take it through the towers following the attested old course. Only the museum passage will require some interior changes, and ultimately, certain recent developments of the museums, which will then be seen from above, will deserve reworking.
This walk will give an unbroken series of remarkable views of the city. It will also look down on the Old Palace and the Keep which will be easy to take in, once the remains have been restored and arranged. Two wooden belvederes arranged as balconies at the northern ends of the curtain wall will further facilitate discovery of the plan of the castle’s oldest and most symbolic elements.
